Yoga and Mental Health

Yoga is a positive way to relieve yourself from stress, anxiety, pressure and other mental healthy related issues. It helps build focus and concentration, calms the body down, and improves mood. It is an effective and healthy way of dealing with negative pent up emotions. Whenever you’re having a bad day, try some of the below listed yoga poses:


To do this pose: 

  • Lay on the ground as if you were about to take a nap, and stretch your legs slightly apart. Have your palms facing upwards with your eyes closed and regulate breathing.


Virabhadrasana II 

To do this pose: 

  • Stand with your feet apart and turn your hips to one side. Point your feet to the side that your hips are turned to. Bend the leg in front at ninety degrees and face the direction your hips are turned to.



To do this pose: 

  • Sit in a crisscrossed position, lift one foot and put it on the opposite thigh, do the same with the other foot. Rest your palms on your thigh facing upwards. Close your eyes and even out your breathing. Make sure your back is straight.



To do this pose:

  • Stand with your feet slightly apart, lift one of your foot and place it on the inner thigh of the opposite leg. Maintain balance and connect your hands over your head.



To do this pose:

  • Stand straight with your feet slightly apart, bend from your hips a little bit until your upper torso bends over. Make sure that your knees are straight. Try placing your hands on the floor, if you cannot place your hands on the floor, then lock them behind your ankles.
