Author’s Note: I created this blackout poem from an excerpt of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. The poem represents the strong women who are creating names for themselves and setting an example for a new generation of little girls with big dreams. It was inspired by Kamala Harris’ recent election as the first female, first South Asian and first Black Vice President of the United States, as well as her statement: “While I may be the first, I won’t be the last.”
